What exactly is a “Blind Date with a Book”?
It’s a curated, surprise book experience. You tell us your preferred level of darkness, your favorite tropes, and your absolute hard limits. We handpick a book that matches your criteria, wrap it so the title and author remain a secret, and ship it to you with some fun, themed goodies. The thrill is in the unboxing and the discovery.

What formats do you offer?
We offer three ways to experience your Blind Date:

  • Blind Date with a Physical Book: A wrapped physical copy of the book plus curated goodies.
  • Blind Date with an Ebook: A card containing your ebook download link, plus curated physical goodies shipped to you.
  • Blind Date with an Audiobook: A card containing your audiobook download code, plus curated physical goodies shipped to you.

Can I request specific tropes?
Yes! You can note your preferred tropes during checkout. We will honor these requests as best as we can based on our current curated inventory.

What if I’ve already read the book you send?
The nature of a Blind Date is the unknown, but we actively work to prevent duplicates. During checkout, we provide a space for you to link your Goodreads, StoryGraph, or other reading tracker. We manually check your list against our inventory before fulfilling your order.

What is your refund policy?
Due to the custom, curated, and surprise nature of the Blind Date with a Book service, all sales are final and we do not offer refunds or exchanges.

What is “Dark Romance”?
Dark romance is a subgenre that explores morally gray characters, taboo themes, and power imbalances. It’s not just “spicy romance with a broody hero.” It intentionally pushes boundaries. However, darkness exists on a spectrum, which is why we created our Danger Scale to help you find your perfect match.

How does the Danger Scale work?
When you order, you’ll choose how deep into the darkness you want to go:

  • 🩷 Pink Flag: “He’s obsessive, but he buys her favorite snacks. Cute, right?”
    (Light stalker, morally grey, rom-com adjacent, over the top MMCs, my feminism flew out the window).
  • 🚩 Standard Red Flag: “Kidnapping, stalking, mafia. The bread and butter. We can fix him.”
    (Kidnapping, dub-con, mafia dynamics, heavy power imbalances.)
  • 🩸 Blood-Soaked Flag: “Call the FBI (but make it fashion).”
    (Pitch black, extreme taboos, psychological horror. Start worrying about your mental health.)
  • 🔥 Burn the Flag: “Burn the Flag and the Whole Damn Country.”
    (The absolute abyss. Extreme, non-con, severe violence, moral event horizon.)

🚧 Your Boundaries Matter (Yellow Flags)

What are “Yellow Flags”?
Even if a book perfectly matches your chosen Danger Scale, everyone has personal “icks” or hard limits. The Yellow Flags section on our order form is where you tell us what you absolutely DO NOT want in your Blind Date. We respect these boundaries without exception.

Common Yellow Flags include:

  • Age Play / DDLG / MDLB
  • Omegaverse (A/B/O dynamics)
  • Pseudo-incest (Step-siblings, adopted siblings)
  • Heavy Voyeurism / Non-consensual voyeurism
  • Cheating / Open relationships
  • Other: (You can specify your own hard limits in the checkout form)

Do you guarantee I’ll give the book 5 stars?
No, and we’re honest about that. My taste isn’t everyone’s taste, and reading is highly subjective. What I do guarantee is that the book will be an indie title, it will strictly adhere to your chosen Danger Scale, it will completely avoid your Yellow Flags, and it will be a book I personally believe is well-written and fits the genre.
